Luxury on weels, who wins?
When will you buy your own supercar? In any case, good preparation can do no harm. Whether for your own pleasure of driving fast cars or to improve your comfort when driving long distances, luxury cars make enthusiasts from all over the world.
7. Maserati
Italian car manufacturer specializes in luxury sports and racing cars. The brand was founded by the Maserati brothers in 1914, its logo is a trident which is inspired by the Neptune fountain in the city of Bologna. Several times bought and then sold (notably by Citroën in 1968) Maserati had a cooperation with Chrysler before being definitively taken over by Fiat.
In order to be able to enjoy the quality of Italian sports cars, you will still have to pay nearly 100k euros for a second hand car.
6. Aston Martin
How can we not know this British brand widely highlighted by the James Bond films. In 1913, the pilot Lionel Martin created a car in order to participate in the Aston Clinton race of which he was the winner in 1914. The merger of the two names gave Aston Martin. The logo comes from the Egyptian god Khepri, symbolized by a beetle.
Aston Martin represents the perfect combination of classy and fast cars. You can choose your favourite between the Aston Martin Vantage, the Rapide or the DB11, a descendant of the DB5 which was the first model to appear in James Bond Goldfinger in 1964.
5. Bentley
Now we’re talking about luxury cars! Bentley, founded in 1919 in Cricklewood, North London.
The brand became known to the general public thanks to numerous victories in the 24h Du Mans, in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930.
Prominent models testify to Bentley’s historic dominance in motor racing, such as the 4 1/2 liter Bentley, the Bentley R Type Continental and the Bentley Turbo R.
Today Bentley offers a range of luxury sedans and SUVs. For the sum of 200k euros, you can treat yourself to a Bentley Continental. No more excuses for not arriving on time for your appointments with this almost 5 meters long and 2500 kg mastodon powered by some 558 horses.
4. Bugatti
Automobiles Ettore Bugatti was a French automobile manufacturer founded in 1909 in Molsheim, Alsace. The cars were rated for their beauty and performance on the racetrack. The Bugatti cars that made history were the Type 30 Grand Prix, the Type 41 Royale, the Type 57 Atlantique and the Type 55 sports car.
After Ettore Bugatti’s death in 1947, the brand went bankrupt, but was put back on track in 1950 by an Italian entrepreneur. Today the brand is owned by the Volkswagen Group.
Do you want to turn heads when you drive through the city centre? This car is made for you! It will be very difficult to find a Bugatti Veyron for less than 1 million euros and the Chiron will cost you 2.5 million but will provide you with no less than 1,500 horsepower for sure acceleration.
3. Ferrari
Welcome to the top three, one of the best luxury car brands.
Ferrari, probably the most popular and recognized car brand in the world. Scuderia Ferrari was founded in 1929 by Enzo Ferrari. Enzo was himself a race driver for Alpha Romeo when he decided to launch the Scuderia Ferrari.
The logo comes from the mother of Francesco Baracca, an Italian aviation pilot who had painted a prancing horse on his cabin.
While the Avio Costruzioni 815 produced in 1940, which remained in the shadow of the Second World War, still participates today in classic car races.
In 1947, the legendary Ferrari 125 was built and won the 1947 Rome Grand Prix.
Michael Schumacher put a lot of emphasis on the brand during his 10 years of driving in Formula 1 between 1996 and 2006 where he won 72 victories and 5 world titles. Have a look to our Formula One blog here!
You can purchase a new Ferrari Portofino for some 200k euros, with prices climbing to 1.6 million for the Ferrari Monza.
2. Lamborghini
Luxury car brands have to be Lamborghini ! Did you hear thunderstorms when the skies were clear? Look no further, it’s probably a Lamborghini Aventador just around the corner!
Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini. Initially specializing in the construction of tractors in post-war Italy, Ferrucio Lamborghini made his fortune in the space of 10 years.
The Lamborghini group then devoted itself exclusively to the construction of prestigious sports cars. In 1998 the Volkswagen group will take over Lamborghini.
In spite of an absence from the competitive scene, the 350 GT and Huracan models managed to stand alongside exceptional cars.
For 180k euros you will have the possibility to go to work in a Lamborghini Huracan, for an Aventador you will have to pay more than 340 K euros !
1. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
It was in 1904 that Roll Royce started building cars. Created by Charles-Royce who died in 1910, the logo of the brand “RR” will pass from red to black.
It is in 1914 that the company converted to the manufacture of aircraft engines, particularly for the first and second world wars. Nationalized in 1971, Rolls Royce finally divided into two entities, the automotive division under the name Rolls Royce Motors and the aerospace division, Rolls Royce plc.
Unlike many of the brands mentioned above, Rolls Royce only offers SUVs and other luxury car and no sports cars.
In 2016 the Rolls Royce Cullinan is launched for 344,000 euros, making it the most expensive SUV in the world well ahead of the Bentley Bentyaga(217,800 euros).
You can also invest in a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III, a collector’s model for some 200,000 Euros!
